Cover Girls
In November of 1992, approximately 10 women of OSLC decided they wanted to make quilts for Lutheran World Relief. They had frames made so they could pin their quilts onto them and then tie the fabric to back of the quilts.
This group meets in the Fellowship Hall on the second and fourth Mondays of the month (with the exception of December).
They piece 12 ½ inch squares into a quilt approximately 60X80 inches. They use a light batting and usually put a sheet for the back of the quilt. Many times their batting has been donated by very generous quilters. Other times they accept donations for a quilt and use the money to buy the batting. They also accept fabric donations of cotton and good used or new flat sheets which are used for the back of the quilts.
In the 15 years they have been working on this ministry, they have made over 2000 quilts. Today, many of the quilts are given to local agencies in need and continue to send many finished quilts to Lutheran World Relief.
