McDonald House

Many families travel far from home to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children. Hospital treatment can last one day, one month or even longer. A Ronald McDonald House keeps families together when they need it most by offering them a comfortable, temporary residence in proximity to a medical facility. Each Ronald McDonald House provides a warm, supportive alternative to costly hotels and uncomfortable hospital waiting rooms.

Families enjoy home-cooked meals and can sleep in private bedrooms at any of the Ronald McDonald Houses. Some now include special suites for immunosuppressive children and their families, and for those who need to stay for an extended period. Many Houses also provide accredited education programs, recreational activities and non-clinical support services. In return, families are asked to make a donation from $5 to $25 per day depending on the House. But if that is not possible, they stay for free.

At OSLC, we collect pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House and deliver them on a regular basis.  Why "pull-a Tab" for the House and not save the whole can?  The tab seems so insignificant.  But, it's pure gold for the House.  The tab is a higher-grade of aluminum, isn't as difficult to collect and store, and not as messy and sticky as the whole can.

Collecting tabs doesn't require a special container.  A paper bag, plastic bag, shoe box, trash bag, plastic drink bottle, water container or a gift bag is all you need!  You don't have to be a certain age, live in a certain place or have special training to collect tabs!  So, become a part of the "House that Love Built" and start pulling those tabs!
