Property Ministry - May 2010

Jobs during the month of May:

During the past month we had an outside contractor:

  • replace a burned out motor in an air conditioning unit
  • replace transformer (air conditioning)

The following projects have been completed:

  • Replaced filters in all air conditioning units
  • Cleaned all outside stairwells
  • Replaced light bulbs throughout the church
  • Cleaned refrigerator (and coils) in the kitchen
  • Fixed the ice machine drain line in the kitchen
  • Repaired commodes in bathrooms
  • Reset timers for outside lights
  • Built partial wall for Heartsong to enclose equipment (Thanks to Barry Fetterolf for his work)
  • Touch-up painting (Thanks to Dave and Martha Herting)

A Note from Building and Grounds:

We are grateful to see all the new changes, updates, and modifications happening all around the church!  We are blessed with many people who have God-given gifts, talents, of electrical, woodworking, electronic, painting, and so much more.  We thank God for all these gifts.

If you have ideas for changes and renovations, be sure to let the Building and Grounds ministry know to make sure that it fits in with the plan and design for the future of OSLC.  There are monthly meetings where information for such changes (painting, etc) needs to be shared.  You can do this by attending the meeting or talking with one of our Property Committee members!

We even have a design committee now formed who work hard on the color schemes of our building.  It's exciting to see what has happened in the last year with new floors in the fellowship hall and the painting that was done to follow up with these new changes.  This kind of coordination is wonderful!

God's house is very important to all of us.  We want to make sure all that energy to better the building is used in the best possible way!  Again, thanks to the many hours so many of you have put in to make God's house a beautiful place to worship, serve, and fellowship!

Property Ministry - February 2010

The upkeep of our grounds and building is a constant job.  January was a busy month!

Jobs during the month of January:

--  Heating units:  Outside contractor (Central Heat and Air) has worked on

  • Both classroom units downstairs
  • Both units for sanctuary

-- We are currently getting proposals on cost to replace old units

-- Had the parking lots of the church cleared during one of our recent snows

-- Installed heat trace line on condensate pipes in yellow room

-- Installed new water cooler in the fellowship hallway

-- Replaced closet doors in the fellowship hallway

-- Repaired office entrance doorway

-- Replaced front outside lights

-- Monitored all the water pipes daily during the week of very cold temperatures (some pipes froze during the daytime - used heaters to thaw and left water running during that week.)

-- Replaced light in the office hallway

-- Plumbers cleaned out drain lines.  They will check out the lines with a videoscope to determine if there is a problem since this has happened once before.

We welcome any volunteers to help with the many projects we have during the year.
