We are a liturgical people; liturgy incorporates words, songs, and gestures that have been used by Christians across the ages to identify themselves and each other.  We invite you to join with us in this joyful celebration of God's love as we worship together today!

Services

Sunday, July 25

On Sunday, July 25, OSLC will be offering three Holy Communion services, at 8:15, 9:30, and 10:45 a.m.   The Heartsong service -- the 9:30 service -- meets in the multipurpose hall.

All three sermons will be delivered by the Rev. Dr. Delmer Chilton, Assistant to the Bishop, Southeastern Synod.  Dr. Chilton was raised in rural North Carolina.  He has degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke.  He has served churches in NC, GA, TN and SC, from a three-church rural parish to a downtown university church. He has been married for 31 years, and has two sons and a dog.

A nursery is provided and all are welcome.

Standing and Kneeling

Appropriate times to stand and kneel are denoted in the bulletin.  These instructions are also printed at the bottom of the first page of the bulletin.

Bible Readings

The lessons and Gospel are from the New Revised Standard Version of the Holy Bible.  Extra copies of the NRSV are at the end of the pews or, you may want to follow along with your own favorite Bible.  The Psalm is usually spoken responsively and is found on the insert along with the lessons and Gospel.

The Holy Sacrament

The Holy Sacrament is the true Body and Blood of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in, with, through, and under the bread and wine, given and shed for us sinners to eat and drink for the forgiveness of sins.

All those who believe Christ died for our sins, and all those who are baptized, are welcomed at the Lord's Table in this congregation.

A record will be sent to the visitor's congregation if such is indicated in the Friendship Register.

Children are invited to come to the altar with their parents for a blessing from the pastor.

Parking

In addition to the parking spaces in front of the church, parking is available behind the church, and in the parking lots of the banks on either side of the church.
